Music Therapy for Autism in Chelmsford & Essex
HCPC-registered, Makaton-trained music therapy for autistic children and adults — no speech or musical experience needed. Sessions meet each person where they are, using singing, instruments and signing to build communication, confidence and connection.
How music therapy supports autistic children and adults
Music offers a way to connect that doesn't rely on speech. For many autistic children and adults, that makes it a natural route into communication, emotional expression and relationship-building, especially where verbal communication is difficult or overwhelming.
Sessions can support sensory regulation, turn-taking, joint attention, and reducing anxiety around social interaction, while giving space to explore sound and rhythm at each person's own pace. Where useful, Makaton signing is woven into sessions alongside singing and instrument play.
What a session looks like
Following an initial assessment, sessions are individually tailored and last up to 45 minutes. They can take place at home, or in settings such as schools, residential services and care centres across Chelmsford, Colchester, Tiptree, Braintree, Maldon and the wider Essex area.
